Kenneth
“Buddy” Henry Megown peacefully passed away December 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born May 4, 1920, in Renick, MO, to Samuel and Maude (Hardin) Megown.
Ken
was a WWII Veteran, wounded on D-Day plus three and was awarded a Purple Heart
and Bronze Star. After recuperating in O’Reilly General Hospital, Ken lived in
the Springfield area the rest of his life working in the printing
business.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Ken is
survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Mae (Cook) Megown; his two children,
Sue Ellen Kirwin of Little
Rock, AR, and Ken Huston Megown of Springfield; two nephews and two nieces.
Ken
was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and will be missed by his family, church family,
countless friends and neighbors.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, in Wesley United Methodist Church, 922 W. Republic Road, Springfield, under the direction of Greenlwn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the
service from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
