Orville Glee Shaffer, 81, of Springfield, peacefully passed to his heavenly home February 23, 2013.  He was born February 10, 1932, in Santa Fe, NM, to C. Norman and Virgie (Moore) Schaffer.

Orville graduated from Gainesville High School.  He married Vena Deatherage in Mtn. Home, AR, December 1, 1951, and to this union two children were born.  Orville retired from Sears after 25 years of service.  He was a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.  His hobbies included cars and yard work and he remained active in his neighborhood homeowner’s association.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Darrel Williams and Paulette Teague.  He is survived by his wife, Vena; daughter, Rita Shaffer and Dennis Dugan; son, Wendell Shaffer and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Kellie Van Laningham and Ryan Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Max; a sister, Treva Andrews; a brother, Tracy Schaffer and his wife, Dottie; brother-in-law, Ronnie Collins and his wife Carole; several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church or Oxford Hospice.
