Edward Lawrence Ripley, age 80, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015, in Branson, Missouri. He was born August 16, 1935, in Glens Falls, New York. Ed was the son of Homer and Genevieve Ripley. He was joined in marriage to Mary Young in Folkston, Georgia on April 21, 1962. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Ed met Mary in Titusville, Florida in 1961. It was love at first sight. He served our country in the U.S. Army. Ed and Mary moved to California when he took a job at Vanderberg Air Force Base. While living in Santa Maria, they met two of their greatest friends, Bill Wells and his sister Maridel. Ed worked for Bendix King as an electrical engineer on the guidance systems for the LGM Minuteman Missiles.

Ed and Mary left California to spend a year in Bermuda. In 1975, they moved to Branson. He was Captain of the Hollister Police Department, a Taney County Sheriff’s Deputy and a volunteer firefighter for the Branson Fire Department. Ed was a member of the Moose Lodge #2692 in Branson as well as a Past Commander of the American Legion Post #220. He was always willing to help others. Ed will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 52 years, Mary (Young) Ripley; two brothers, Jim and David; as well as two sisters, Helen and Jean.

Ed is survived by two sons, Steve Ripley and wife Heather of Haines, Alaska, Jim Ripley and wife Stormy of Madison, Alabama; four grandchildren, Garrett, William and Cole Ripley of Haines, Alaska, and Shane Ripley of Madison, Alabama; as well as a sister, Marguerite Drummond of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held at the Closer Walk Christian Church 4829 E. State Highway 86, Blue eye, Missouri, Sunday, December 27, at 12:00 noon. Burial will be held at a later time in England Cemetery, Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. For online condolences please visit our website
