Age: 68
Residence: Branson, MO
Formerly of: Grafton, ND

JoAnn Donna Flanagan, age 68, of Branson, Missouri, passed away November 14, 2019, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family.  She entered this life July 13, 1951, in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of Arnold and Donna (McDonald) Christianson.  She married Vern Allan Flanagan on September 25, 1971.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

JoAnn grew up in Mountain, North Dakota, and eventually made her way to Fargo, North Dakota.  She attended St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo, where she was very active with the youth programs and fundraisers, taught Sunday School, and served on the church Board.  After moving to Branson, Missouri, she attended Woodland Hills Church.  During her retirement years in Branson, JoAnn enjoyed book club, Bible study groups, and attending Branson shows with the “Wild Bunch.” JoAnn was particularly proud of her Icelandic heritage; preparing native dishes and telling stories of her family background.

Her life emulated the beauty of her interest in flowers and birds, especially hummingbirds and eagles.  She was a very grateful, caring, loving, and giving lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  JoAnn was an amazingly dedicated mother and wife, supporting her children in all of their pursuits and always placing her family first.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gayle Johnson; and a niece, Nicole Sorteberg.

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Vern Flanagan; a son, Shane Flanagan of Nixa, Missouri; a daughter, Cabrina Flanagan and wife Angela Aderhold of San Antonio, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

A celebration of JoAnn’s life is being planned for a later time in Fargo, North Dakota.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mountain Cemetery Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com .
