Aloysius “Al” James Morrison Jr., age 78, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020, at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri from congestive heart failure. Al was born on May 2, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Aloysius J. Morrison Sr. and Naomi (Nelson) Morrison.
He married MaryAnn (Lenhart) Morrison on April 8, 1972, in the Catholic Church in St. Louis.
Al was a long-term resident of Barnhart, Missouri, and a graduate of Mehlville High School. He attended Southeast Missouri State after high school, and he went on to serve in the United States Army Reserve from 1967 to 1971 as a military policeman.
He worked at Nooter Corporation as a non-destructive testing technician. After he retired from Nooter, he worked as a corrections officer for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
Al was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He loved a good practical joke.
He was also known for being an avid lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, watching Cardinals baseball and Chiefs football, drawing, and learning about Native American history. He was especially compelled by the story of the Nez Perce tribe and Chief Joseph. He spent his time educating his daughters and their friends about birds and horses.
Fishing was Al’s primary passion. He loved collecting fishing magazines and new lures. You could find him most days watching The World Fishing Network. He attended bass classes at Bass Pro in Springfield, Missouri with his brother Nelson. Al and “Nellie” would take their knowledge to Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo.
Survivors include his wife, MaryAnn, of Merriam Woods; brother, Nelson and wife Patricia of Springfield; daughter Lisa Ann Morrison and spouse Jonathan Grimm of St. Louis; daughter Laura Christine Morrison and wife Laura Adam of St. Louis; daughter Lacey Marie Morrison and Chuck Simmons of Merriam Woods; and his beloved dogs Mattie, Boots, Sadie, and Rusty. He was preceded in death by his parents Aloysius Sr. & Naomi and many beloved horses, dogs, rabbits, and ducks.
