Doris June “Sissy” Fulkerson Doublin was born May 13, 1945, in Owensboro, Kentucky. She departed this life Sunday, February 27, 2011, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, nine months, and fourteen days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Ro Jean Harper Fulkerson; and her husband, Herbert, on November 5, 1997.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Stacy Poynter, and her husband, Donald, of Buffalo, Missouri, and Teena Wasmer, and her husband, Joe, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, James Doublin, and his wife, Crystal, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Austin, Tyler A., Tyler J., Siera, Payton, and Lily; three brothers, Donald “Donnie” Fulkerson, of Lebanon, Missouri, James “Jimmy” Fulkerson, of Newburg, Indiana, and Bob Fulkerson, of Florence, Kentucky; a sister, Dorothy Henton, of Newburg, Indiana; a step-brother, David Ice, of Huntingburg, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born in Kentucky and was raised in Indiana. She graduated from Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana, in the Class of 1963. After she and Herbert were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Doris also worked part time at Dowd’s Catfish House and Gary’s Place.

Doris had made her profession of faith in Christ and attended Happy Hill Church for many years, where she taught Sunday school and worked in Vacation Bible School. She was currently attending Community Baptist Church.

In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, playing video games with her grandchildren, and cooking and baking for her family. She liked listening to all kinds of music, particularly songs of the 1950’s, and enjoyed watching horror movies. Her family was the center of her life and she delighted in caring for and reading to her grandchildren. She was a very kind and accepting person, was not judgmental, and was always willing to let others have the glory.

Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
