Travis Joe Spence was born September 3, 1973, in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life Sunday, February 27, 2011, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of thirty-seven years, five months, and twenty-four days.

On October 9, 1993, he was united in marriage to Jennie Lynn Peterson, and they shared the last seventeen years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lana Spence; his maternal grandmother, June Spence; and his paternal grandparents, Griffie and Dovie Acklin.

Travis is survived by his wife, Jennie, of the home; two daughters, Autumn Peterson, and Sierra Spence, both of the home; two sons, Travis J. Peterson, and Brenden C. Spence, both of the home; his father, Jessie Acklin, of Yates Center, Kansas; his maternal grandfather, Robert Spence, of Hutchinson, Kansas; three brothers, Mickey Acklin, of the State of Oklahoma, Nick Acklin, of Yates Center, Kansas, and Stacey Wilson, of Lebanon, Missouri; eight sisters, Kelley Acklin, of Birch Tree, Missouri, Misty Hilton, of Council Grove, Kansas, Beth Jennings, Ashley Acklin, Maggie Jennings, Amber Jennings, all of Yates Center, Kansas, Jackie Mitts, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Tiffany Embree, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and raised in Arkansas, where he attended school. He then lived for a time in Kansas, before making his home in the Lebanon and Eldridge area. He was currently working as a welder for Bear Trailer Company.

He was very much an outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked attending his children’s sporting events. He was very gifted at repairing things and was always willing to help anyone in need. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and liked playing practical jokes on his family and friends.

Travis was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
