JOHN L. LINDT, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born November 27, 1927 in Kingman, Kansas, a son of Otto H. and Mable M. (Clovis) Lindt.  He went to HIS Heavenly home on Sunday, April 19, 2015 in his home in Berryville, at the age of 87 years.     

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a young man, serving his Lord faithfully the remainder of his life. He was a Charter member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school and Discipleship training in the children’s department for several years, and served on various committees. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Great-Great-Grandfather. John served his country during WWII as a United States Marine Air Craft Mechanic. He worked for the City of Berryville Water Department, Gibson’s Car Exchange, Tyson Foods Maintenance Department, and Carroll County Soil Conservation District. He also owned and operated Lindt Small Engine Service. John’s favorite past time was riding his horse, fishing, and tinkering with things. He was also a Volunteer of Mercy Auxiliary – Berryville.

On February 07, 1948, John was united in marriage with Jonnie Ruth Peek, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by his daughters, Evelyn and husband Micheal Lewis of Berryville, AR, Donna and husband John Harrington of Greenbrier, AR, and Rose and husband Larry Meek of Green Forest, AR; sisters, Helen Lamb and Ida Payne both of Kingman, KS, Marguerite and husband Otis Hamby of Temple, TX, Opal Shoumake of Berryville, AR, and Joretta and husband Myron Schwinn of St. George, KS; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.        

John was preceded in death by his parents, Otto H. and Mable M. Lindt; brothers, Charles and Richard Lindt; and sisters, Minnie Cooksey and Betty Trickle.


Pall Bearers include: Grandson’s, Jay Woodworth, Kevin Meek, Cecil Meek, Ramey Harrington, and grandsons-in-law, Joe Wunstel, Randall Dickinson, Gary McCutchen, and Antonio Rice; Honorary Bearers include: Add a Man Sunday School Class.      

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Freeman Heights Baptist Church with Son-in-Law, Brother John Harrington and Pastor Alan Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to Freeman Heights Baptist Church Bus Fund, 522 West Freeman, Berryville, Arkansas 72616.
