Faioso Josephine “Josie” (Savaii) Stevens, age 43, of Reeds Spring, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born December 19, 1971, in American Samoa. Josie was the daughter of Faipule and Fuatino (Misa) Savaii. She married Charlie Stevens on January 21, 1992. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
Josie worked in the ministry with Charlie since 1996. She enjoyed doing the Lord’s work with her husband. They met in American Samoa where they ran a business together. She was a talented singer and had a wonderful laugh. Most of all, Josie Stevens was a wonderful wife and mother who loved the Lord with all of her heart and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Faasoa Savaii and Pio Savaii; and a brother-in-law, Manu Alefosio.
Josie is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Charlie Stevens of the home; 10 children, Jason Stevens of Wainae, Hawaii, Shawn Stevens of American Samoa, Jerry Stevens and wife Lauren of South Bayport, Minnesota, Charlie Stevens, Jr. of Kapolei, Hawaii, Popi Stevens and wife Shannon of Fayette, Missouri, Susan Stevens of Reeds Spring, Missouri, Paul Stevens of Fayette, Missouri, Ruby Pace and husband Ryan of Willow Springs, Missouri, Jeremiah Stevens of Nevada, Missouri, and Fuatino Stevens of Reeds Spring, Missouri; nine grandchildren; her mother, Fuatino Savaii of American Samoa; 150+ foster children; four brothers, Siaosi Savaii and wife Teresa of Fullerton, California, Ioane Savaii of Long Beach, California, Savaii Savaii and wife Linda of Long Beach, California, and Uli Savaii and wife Malia of American Samoa; two sisters, Koreti Alefosio of Corona, California, and Fuamatala Savaii of American Samoa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Grace Community Assembly, Branson, Missouri, with Pastor David Betzer officiating.
